JP Vine

its Animation Talk Tuesday! i wanted to start this topic for quite some time now! Couple years ago i started a Tumblr called "Animation Talk" but didnt exactly take it seriously. haha. i think i did like two post and that was it. Well, im starting it now (again). Thursday nights Benefit for Jamie Baker pretty much inspired this to be. I was surrounded by incredibly talented professional artist, that it was kind of a slap in the face. like, a wake up call! My dream of all dreams is to become an Animator of some sort ;) so, this year im going to be cracking down and learning everything there is to know about it and finding inspirations from anything and everything! Here comes the nerdiness guys! haha. I hope you all find inspiration in this!

Today, lets talk about JP Vine.

JP Vine is an Animation Director and Designer who currently works as a Story Artist at Pixar Animation Studios. I first found out about him from Thursday nights benefit! His drawings caught my attention, I mean they were mermaids! ahh! Not only that but the fact that his drawings still looked amazing with his "bad hand" was pretty neat. I became a little stalkerish and was actually watching him draw a little >.< When I discover a new artist to add to my list of inspirations, I get a little bit nerdy and go animation stalker crazy. that being said, did you watch the short film above? I found it on his YouTube page! You can find more on there, as well as a 2D Animation tutorial!

What I find so inspiring about JP Vine is.. 1.) the fact that hes so helpful to aspiring animators and illustrators! I *liked* his FB Page and found his helpful tips for applying for Pixar. *thank you JP*. I jotted down notes for when I apply to any animation studio in the future. 2.) his work makes me want to cry a little. In a good way! haha. his work is absolutely fantastic! his designs and drawings.. *drool*. take a look for yourself... *HERE*

My favorite of his work has got to be his Life is Story series!

I hope you enjoyed reading a bit about JP Vine!
Hope you tune in for next Tuesday! :)

Monroey Dress

Marilyn Monroe. She has always been a big obsession of mine since I was really young. I think the fact that my grandpa was in love with her had a little bit to do with it, haha. A woman with such beauty and class. I cant get over how breathtakingly gorgeous she was. Besides her beauty, I am in love with her wardrobe. A while ago my friend and I were talking about our dream wedding dress. I have two in mind: 1. A puffy knee lenth (1950's style) dress, kind of like this and this (with sleeves). 2. (if I lose weight) A skin tight dress. She asked me to show her pictures but I couldn't find anything that was similar AT ALL. I remember saying "in my head it looks Marilyn Monroey". I didn't get to show her but couple days later I found this photo above. Its EXACTLY how I pictured it. And it has SLEEVES. sleeves! yes! I have this photo saved on my phone and computer, hoping someday I could find someone that can do custom dresses for my wedding day. Maybe I seen this photo before to have remembered the dress but I don't have any memory of it. haha.

add a little color

do you ever just sit and just think about your life? sometimes it gets little depressing. The past couple weeks ive been figuring my life out. Certain things (that shouldn't be worrying about at all) have been kicking me down so hard. The old "why don't I have a boyfriend?" "why doesn't he like me?" "why do they not invite me?" "why do I always feel left out?" "how much longer do I have to stick with this junk car?" and "I hope I don't live at home till im thirty". I really hate thinking those things because it makes me feel like I don't even appreciate everything in my life. Though, I think we're aloud to complain *once* in a while. haha. Its human nature to. So lately, instead of "feeling depressed" about things, I have been reading a lot of Crazy Love and opening my bible (well, the bible app on my iphone haha). Not only am I getting a word from God but it always gives me a better mind set on things and it sure makes me a lot more happier. Aside from my bible; things like rearranging my room, drawing, reading and being around good company has helped me out a lot. If youre ever feeling the same; add a little color! Do something fun! Even if its by yourself.. Go to a book store, coffee shop, paint, the list goes on. Just some words to hopefully inspire you :)

Smitten over: Eric Joyner + a makeover

So if you didnt know by now, i love love love (did i mention, love?) donuts. BUT i dont eat them a lot, mainly because im really trying to lose weight and donuts are definitely not the diet food. haha. I have always wanted to open my own little donut shop and sell my art work (along with local artists work). Hm, maybe someday! So, im kinda sad that i JUST discovered the artist Eric Joyner. Crazy right? His work is seriously amazzzzzzzzing. Im going to buy one of his prints.. soon! I cant help but keep staring at his work.. its really inspiring. The colors, the donuts, the robots, the details, the imagination.. i mean, really? Such a great painter! I have decided to start a new series of inspirations, titled "Smitten Over:" so Eric Joyner is my first post of that and i hope you enjoy his work shown here!
the artist himself

ugh, i want a donut so bad! haha.

my storenvy shop, Pretty Clementine, got a makeover! yay. im so excited because it finally looks like a shop. haha. more prints will be added soon and i will post an update once theyre up :)

and i quote

Lately i have been lacking drawing inspiration. ugh. I havent been drawing as much as i should. On a brighter note, i have recently made two sales in my Pretty Clementine shop. yes! Also, i think lately i havent been focusing mainly on drawing but more on my walk with God. Ive been rethinking things and trying to get myself back on track. What does that mean? Well, just praying more and finding out what my purpose is in life. I know i want to be someone great, not just great, but a great woman of God. Im looking forward to finding that out. The other day i decided to rearrange my room. worst.. idea.. ever. My back is still hurting and my room looks like it just threw up. *sad faced*. So i got a ton of cleaning to do, which is actually fine since ill be having a spot at our church flea market this Saturday. Anywho, while rearranging my room, i stumbled across a book i was reading 4-5 years ago. i seriously forgot all about it! So maybe rearranging my room wasnt such a bad idea? haha. Well, i found it in perfect timing because i have been (also) lacking inspiration in God. My spiritual life was emptying out. I wasnt feeling like i belong. The book i found is called "Twelve Extraordinary Women" and im so glad i bought it 4-5 years ago. It brought a smile to my face and all i thought of was *thank you Jesus*! The book talks about ladies from the bible and their dedication to God. How inspiring is that? It felt perfect, like, exactly what i needed. These ladies (and God) will give me the inspiration to draw near to him. im excited. So, that is basically my current read!

"Scripture never discounts the female intellect, downplays the talents and abilities of women, or discourages the right use of women's spiritual gifts. But whenever the Bible expressly talks about the marks of an excellent woman, the stress is always on femine virtue. The most significant women in Scripture were influential not because of their careers, but because of their character. The message these women collectively give is not about "gender equality"; its about true feminine excellence. And this is always exemplified in moral and spiritual qualities rather than by social standing, wealth, or physical appearance"

What have you been inspired by lately?

side note:
This is actually the lastest drawing i have done, which was a drawing for a friend. (i forgot to snap a shot after finishing the hair, haha).

p.s. I want to do a little giveaway on my blog when i reach 25 followers. All 25 (or more?) will
automatically be in it and i will do a random drawing to see who wins the "package" i come up with (which includes my artwork and lots of fun stuff). We'll talk about this later :)

Disney Couples

So i am ALWAYS inspired by Disney and decided to use Disney couples as the base of my drawings lately. I recently whipped up a drawings of Roger and Jessica Rabbit, Carl and Ellie Fredricksen and Ariel and Eric.
All three prints are available in my store! Are there any Disney couples in particular that you want to see a drawing of? Please leave a comment and let me know :)
