Favorite Lush Products

favorite lush products 2

when i was teen i use to hate walking by the LUSH store at the mall! it had that super strong smell and i never went inside. little did i know, they would be carrying my favorite products everrrr. haha. i ended up going into the store with my friend years back and realized how great their products were. i was so in awe of the bath bomb collection that its become a tradition now to gift them to my girl friends for Christmas! :)

one of the reasons i decided to switch to Lush was because i really wanted to try something more natural. i have terrible/oily skin and i never really use to take care of my face/hair/skin. every product that ive used has done nothing and i figured why not give Lush a try! especially since ive read such great reviews!
the first thing i ever bought from Lush is the Bubble Gum lip balm/scrub, mainly because my lips tend to dry out fast (chapstick is my best friend). its worked wonders but lately i have been forgetting to use it, haha. not only does the scrub help your lips but the smell and taste is delicious! haha.

1. Cupcake / Fresh Face Mask : i bought this specifically for my oily face. ive used it about 3 times since i bought it and it expires in couple days (so, i will be using it tonight and tomorrow). Cupcake has cocoa powder as one of its ingredients which makes your face smell like chocolate! haha. its pretty cool! but not only does it smell yummy, my face just feels so good after rinsing! one thing to keep in mind about the fresh face mask is that they have to be refrigerated and only last for a couple weeks (theyre also only sold in stores and not online). i actually keep forgetting that i have it since its in the ref! haha.

2. Shine So Bright / Hair Treatment : my hair has been damaged for yearrrrrrrs. i havent had a trimmed in forever and my split ends are out of control. well, couple weeks ago i decided that i wanted to dye my hair (which i havent done in about 8 years) so i figured, its time to start taking care of my mane! i trimmed my hair, dyed it and started using this product. its my life savor and its smells sooooo good! i apply it two times a day.

3. Herbalism / Cleanser : i use this product mainly for my face! i cut off my usual face cleansers and switched to this gem. i cant even tell you how amazing this product it. it feels so good on my face and feels even better after rinsing. such a huge difference from the other products i use to use. my face feels so soft! one of the perks is that it also handles my oily skin! ;) i use it every day, morning and night.

4. Breath of God & Aquatic / Toothy Tabs : ive always had a love/hate relationship with toothpaste. you just never know whats good for you and whats not. one day while scrolling through the Lush site i came across the Toothy Tabs and thought "hm. interesting". curiosity hit and my next visit to the store i walked out with two in hand! there were a couple reviews ive read about some of them having a weird smell from the natural ingredients. honestly, it doesnt bug me one bit. the results? amazing! my teeth not only feel good from them but theve whitened! tip: Toothy Tabs come in these cute little cardboard boxes which is good because its recyclable but sucks because once it gets wet your Toothy Tabs are over. i didnt think about this until i read a review and the next couple days the box started getting a bit wet. i bought the Shampoo Bar Tin to put my Toothy Tabs in! so now theyre safe! ;)

5. Sea Spray / Hair Gel : i decided to give this spray a go after reading so many good reviews from my favorite bloggers/instagramers. also because i dont usually put anything in my hair and if i do, its gotta be something good for it. it seriously makes my hair look good, feel good and it smells great! i use it after i curl my hair!

BONUS!
6. Sandstone & Ice Blue / Soap : on my last visit to Lush they gave me a small bag full of samples. out of all of them ive only had a chance to try these two.. and well, i love them! especially Sandstone! i love that it also scrubs. i cant wait to get it on my next visit to the store! :)

Do you like Lush? what are your favorite products?

Comikaze Expo : First Timer

im pretty excited y'all! ill be attending Comikaze for the first time and im pretty excited. ill actually be attending Hello Kitty Con as well (the day before), so its going to be a rad weekend. The only Con ive been to is the Vampire Diaries (omg, Ian Somerhalder was like 15 feet away from me and i got to take a picture with Steven R. Mcqueen!) a couple years ago, so i dont know exactly what to expect from either of these Conventions.
I do know that i want to dress up for both. Lets start off with the Comikaze Expo!

Yep! i want to cosplay as Peter Quill/Star-Lord! Since i dont have much time to "make" anything, i bought his gun online (Meli did a recent post about Cosplay for Dummies: Store Bought and one of the links she recommended was Costume Super Center. thanks, Meli!) . i forgot that he has two, so im still debating whether to buy another or not (what do you think?). anyways, im really excited about cosplaying as Peter Quill, not only do i favor him a lot in GOTG but also because his costume looks comfy. haha. I also love the fact that he wears boots. i love BOOTS! haha. id wear them forever if i could (it just doesnt work in the summer unfortunately *sad faced*).
Now, its time to look for a red leather jacket or something super similar. I will be hunting at thrift stores. wish me luck!

As of Late

rarely do i ever do an outfit post but lately i have been feeling a wee bit confident in myself. as of late, i have been obsessing over shorts and tights. im not a big fan of shorts (im a tall gal and i feel like all people will see/notice are my legs. sure thats cool sometimes but im still not THAT confident. haha) so i thought id give the shorts and tights thing a try. even though you still see legs i feel so much comfortable with them on then without! im kind of in love with this style! :) i have also been straightening my hair this whole week (which i havent done in months). so, yes, its been a pretty good week when that cute barista gives you a compliment.

20 things about me - just because

I really cannot call myself a blogger anymore. i mean, i have not updated my blog in so long. haha. i cant believe i didnt post anything for the month of April. I have a pretty good excuse though, life is just busy. its so very hard to find the time for things these days but im trying. So as my first post in over a month or two, i thought id do a little random "about me" thing. So, here it goes:

1. i love cola. just cola. like coca-cola. i dont like it flavored (cherry, vanilla, etc). coca-cola is my favorite soda of all time. i cannot stand flavored carbinated drinks. theyre not yummy to me =/ i wish i liked them though but my taste buds are like "EW".

2. in the art world & internet world, people call me Rosa (which is short for Rosalyn.) but everyone (friends/family) actually call me Roz. its been my "nickname" since elementary or middle school or something and its seriously the name everyone knows me as rather than Rosalyn (my real name). the reason why i dont go by Roz in the art world is because i prefer it to be my "real" name. So, yeah, thats just a little random info. haha. you are all free to call me Roz if youd like. Its basically my REAL name. haha.

3. Im a really huge Seth Macfarlane fan. hes just a ball of talent! & i really admire that. He sings (so very well), acts (& does voices), animates (i mean, Family Guy!! come on! i love BRIAN!) & he is super hilarious. I also find him incredibly attractive! ;)

4. i love collecting art. especially locals, art trades & especially from my friends. ive been going to a bunch of SF events and i always make sure to buy at least one thing. sometimes i end up buying more. haha. one thing i do love the most though, is people drawing me things. as much as i love drawing things for people its always nice receiving them too. not only that, but i love seeing peoples imaginations! So, if you want to do an art trade or anything, email me :)

5. pugs & miniature schnauzers are my favorite dogs. i hope to own either one of them in the future!

6. for woman crush wednesday, i choose: drew berrymore, kate winslet & miranda kerr.

7. my dream wedding: black, white, gold (& maybe hints of roseybrowns) will be the color choices, hot dogs/burgers/hot wings will be served & presented nicely while big band music plays (live, hopefully), everyone will then grab snacks, cocktails & beers for a picnic style evening while our favorite films play on a big screen (lets hope hes a Cornetto Trilogy fan too ;)) haha.

8. im still trying to find confidence in myself. sometimes a simple black cherry lipstick & high waisted jeans help. But i seem to always get compliments from girls than guys. ugh. =/ (dont get me wrong, thats not a bad thing. but it would be nice for a guy to notice. haha).

9. my dream house is Neds house, from the movie 17 again..

10. i love movies and i have too many favorite genres (like: comedy, sci-fi, fantasy, romance, animation). the only one that is hard for me to watch are horror films. I actually like horror films but im too much of a pansy to watch them consistently. haha. if i was watching it with a group of people or even a boyfriend then i can manage. but you will never find me watching one by myself. my mind tends to focus on scary things after watching one. also, i get really queasy from the sight of blood (even when i have nose bleeds =/). have you seen House of Wax? honestly, it wasnt even scary but mostly GROSS. haha.

11. im a huge television fan. like, i watch tv everyday. when im sitting in bed, painting & even sleeping. haha. (also, reruns are satisfying).

12. did i mention that im kind of a pansy? yeah, i am also afraid of the dark. like ive mention in #10, my mind tends to have its own imagination. the only way ill be able to sleep in the dark is if there is another person in the room (hoping they dont snore, cause then, i wont sleep at all).

13. I tried a Dole Whip float for the first time this year (when i went to Disneyland on my birthday weekend - pictures later) & it was probably the best thing i have ever consumed (aside from buffalo wings). I love love love pineapple (pineapple juice is my favorite) so it was just an amazing treat!

14. Shaun of the Dead is my favorite from the Cornetto Trio. i mean, how could i not mention Simon Pegg in this post? that would be nuts.

15. my heroes are: Marty Mcfly, Tim Burton & Jesus. i have my reasons for all three too. i feel like it would take me a while to write it though. haha

16. im pretty sure the way im gonna die will involve some sort of insect/bug. that being said im also pretty sure i have a phobia of them.

17. any art related to a favorite film/tv show.. ill love it! im pretty sure i wear my Dwight & Kevin Pin at least once a week.

18. there are so many mediums i enjoy but not as much as watercolor. its my current obsession & really easy to carry around with me.

19. i hate summer. i hate the heat. i love cold breezes and being covered up and wearing boots. i love my boots.

20. i love coffee. but im pretty sure you already knew that. i prefer almost anything over starbucks. my favorites are nespresso & peets coffee.

hopefully this wasnt boring.
haha. if you have any "about me" type of post, comment below!
i would love to read them!

Best of 2013 (Instagram) + fave shot of the year

I don't think I could complain about any year! theres always the fun times and down times but its usually what you get out of it and what you learn is what makes you think back on the year. This year made me realize who I really am, what I want to do and what I want to be. Its made me write down the goals for next year. travel more, do more things (comic con, warrior dash, etc.) and do possibly anything that makes me happy! I gathered photos from my instagram of the highlights from every month. I encourage you all to do the same! Though, some months had more than one highlight I figured picking one photo would be more simple. haha.

January - was the start of being more active. hiked up Mission Peak for the first time and though it was a challenge I felt so accomplished.
February - Disneyland. Nuff said.
March - and after Disneyland, we made a day trip to Universal Studios. fun and exhausting day.
April - my UP/Disneybound birthday. My best friend, Felicia, made my cake. AMAZING.
May - getting to go to the FIRST Pixar night at the SF Giants game. and also getting to see John Lasseter throw the opening pitch!
June - I did my second RAW showcase! I was a nervous wreck but my friends made the whole night worth it!
July - a weekend trip to LA. which included the Warner Brothers Studio Tour. I want to go back!
August - my baby niece, Elayna, turning ONE.
September - making sales like I never had before in my shop.
October - another quick LA trip to see Danny Elfmans music from the films of Tim Burton. BEST. NIGHT. EVERRRRRR.
November - was a bunch of San Francisco trips which included hitting up the Nespresso café for the first time. im obsessed with their Iced Caffe!
December - MAUI. my first time ever in Hawaii and I hope I get to go back.

and as for my favorite shot of the year..

its simple but its become one of my favorites and probably one of the best days ive ever had. though I spent about 5 hours in Santa Monica that day, I seriously fell in love with the place instantly. Its made me love Socal even more. I have been wanting to move to LA for quite some time now and Santa Monica just got me smitten even more.

Can you believe its almost New Years?! I don't even have any plans yet. haha.
Hope you all have a fantastic weekend! :)

info : shop & me

Since the Holidays are approaching and my trip to Hawaii is super duper soon, here are some info about whats going on at Pretty Clementine and also with me.
Custom Couple Portraits - I will be taking the last batch of portraits (well, all customs) on November 20th and will have them done before Thanksgiving. Customs will resume the beginning of January. Any Purchases from my shop from December 6th through December 15th all orders will be shipped on Tuesday the 17th of December. Other than customs and not getting things shipped the week I am in Hawaii the shop is all good ;)

Id also just like to thank everyone who has visited and ordered from Pretty Clementine! ive had my shop for almost two years (started with Etsy) and it has finally started to rocket (there has definitely been some depressing moments, wondering if my shop would ever really take off.. but I know it always requires patience)! im so incredibly blessed and especially thankful to everyone for being so supportive and for just liking my art, period. Every kind word.. I really take that to heart & it really makes my dream more possible.

I really have been drawing since I could hold a pencil and since I was younger (sitting in front of the tv, drawing Daria characters) I knew I wanted to be an Artist. Growing up in a traditional Filipino family that wants you to become a nurse, I had a lot of convincing to do with my father and some of my family. making sure they knew that drawing is something I want to do for the rest of my life. Ive made it my major attending junior colleges and then attending the Art Institute majoring in Media Arts and Animation. And though I did not finish (finding a job to pay my rent and a lot of my bills was too important to pay for an expensive school), im glad I went there because I learned so much, met so many great & talented people and I really wouldn't have the mind set I have today.

Its incredibly hard work trying to get yourself and your work out there! Honestly, I have a lot of people to thank for that! So, thank you to those who have played some parts in my play :) I have really met some wonderful and super kind people on blogs and instagram.. I hope to meet all of you in person some day!

ok, enough of my sappiness :) haha.
I hope you all had a lovely weekend and hope your week is blessed!

p.s. I watched Thor The Dark World twice this past weekend. yes, its pretty dang good. #TeamLoki

a confession

ive dealt with so much insecurities since I was younger. too tall, chubby, thick eyebrows, broad shoulders, big feet, pimples, frizzy hair, the list goes on. High school is when I actually began to accept myself. There so many people taller than me, even girls! I tweezed my brows, lost a little weight, I learned to love my hair and people really didn't care so much on how I looked. Everyone looked different and that was the beauty of it. I felt good about myself, mostly because I was myself :) I dealt with insecurities from time to time but for the most part, I was happy with myself. Until a year ago. a year ago for some odd reason all of my confidence dropped. I hate photos of myself! I don't like when people take pictures of me and the only time I do is if im making a silly/ugly face or its me taking them myself, because.. well, I get to add the filters I want to make myself look decent. I don't know if its because im getting older but I haven't been happy with how I look lately. I gained weight (I started working out in Feb but haven't been able to go since July because work as been crazy busy), my hair got shorter (so many split ends) and my face has been breaking out like crazy. Not to mention there has been people in my life who have actually made me feel like im the ugliest person on earth (fyi: i don't associate with them anymore). Ive learned through all this to just make the best out of it, i should be happy with myself regardless of what others say. Yes, I still feel insecure sometimes but it helps to follow such amazing bloggers (KateCazz, MichelleEM, Marlyn and Bee) who actually gives me a bit of confidence. Sure, maybe I should give myself confidence but to be honest these ladies are inspiring. they are all beautiful in their own way!  I RARELY post photos of myself on IG or here on my blog (when i do, its usually half my face or not my face at all) but maybe that will change (maybe photos of me once in a while but not all the time haha. the photo above is a start). Lately, ive felt pretty good about myself. ive been wearing my favorite mascara, putting outfits together and figuring out what brooch to wear next! Sometimes, that's really all it takes to get a boost of confidence. Im doing my best to feel more good about myself! ill make that a goal!

past couple of days

the last time I babysat a 1 year old was 9 years ago. my nephew. haha. My sister took a work trip to Oregon on Monday (she comes home tonight) and brother-in-law works at night. So she asked me to babysit my nephew and two nieces for two nights (Tuesday & Wednesday). I have one word to describe how I feel.. right.. now.. EXHAUSTED. haha. it doesn't help that Monday night I went to bed at 4am :( *short story time: as I was getting ready for bed an ugly spider was crawling on my wall, right next to my bed. I tried to kill it which led to me missing and it ended up falling on my bed. yes, MY BED. so I spent a good while finding it, waiting and trying to kill it. Then there was a moment where I didn't know if I had killed it and I spent that time worrying my butt off and eventually gave up. I still wasn't sure where it went but I slept on the other side of my bed from where I last saw it. I slept so uncomfortably.* Then came Tuesday night. I think my baby niece woke up about 3 times and I don't remember even falling asleep at all. I was even 20 minutes early to work. haha. Last night, however, wasn't too bad at all. I finally slept and my niece woke me up once. On the bright side; spending time with them these past two nights was great. my baby niece seriously makes me smile non-stop.

I posted that quote above on my Instagram, on a picture I took at SF recently. Thought id share it with you all on here. I really like it. Recently ive felt that a lot of people have been looking at themselves a lot and not others. not really looking at others perspectives. this quote is not only for them, but an inspiration to myself as well.

Im ready to finally be in my bed tonight and start working on some more projects. ALSO, have you guys purchased your dvd of Star Trek Into Darkness yet? im getting mine tonight! Im also very excited that my friend is having girls night tomorrow and were going to watch the film while we pig out on pizza and chocolate chip cookies. Im going to go all nerded out and DIY a Trekkie shirt and create myself a Starfleet Insignia - Engineer Officer for non other than Scotty! im so excited haha.

also, don't forget to enter my giveaway, below.

whats in my bag

ive actually been seeing a bunch of "Whats in my bag" post lately. I think the last one I came across was Sara Elizabeth's post and I adored it. I like that people share things like that, it shows a little more about them and the things they like.
As for my bag; I seriously keep the SAME stuff in my bag. except the books, those rotate from time to time.

// mints. I ALWAYS gotta have some sort of mints on me. You just never know who youre going to be talking to. haha

// tums. I constantly have stomach issues. its been going on for a while. Not sure why that is but it also explains why I don't eat as much as I use to and I really do watch what I eat. If I know that my stomach is gonna go crazy ill stick to soup. (side not: I actually have recurring headaches and migraines, I always take a bunch of advil with me but it couldn't fit in the photo. haha).

// make-up bag. I got this adorable bag at Forever 21. I actually really wanted it in pink but I haven't been able to find it *sad faced*. But I saw the black one and thought it was just as cute :) They have the pink online, so maybe ill get it sometime soon :)

// wallet. of course, my wallet goes with me everywhere. ive been using this one for quite some time. I got it at Forever 21 a while ago. The color is what sold me. I love any type of green (except neon). heres a link to the actual wallet in a different color.

// chapstick. I always gotta have chapstick on me. I hate it when my lips are dry. I think its one of the worst feelings. haha. I use EOS' Strawberry Sorbet. I also use Burt Bees Hibiscus tinted lip balm, which is in my makeup bag.

// lotion. same as above, I hate it when my hands are dry. I cant go 30 minutes without putting lotion on. having dry hands is like nails on a chalkboard for me.

// perfume. I never really use to carry perfume around with me until there were days that I would forget to put it on before work. so, these roll on perfume bottles are perfect to just toss in your purse. I use Marc Jacob's Daisy. my most favorite scent ever. You can get it here.

// books. I either have a book or my sketch book in my purse. but usually its a book. this time its Simon Pegg's "Nerd Do Well", as ive mentioned before.

so, now I want to know.. whats in your bag?
leave me a comment and let me know if you posted one on your blog, id love to see :)

p.s. I wanted to mention to all of my readers how much I appreciate you all, all of your amazing comments and for even following me. Im incredibly thankful and it really means a lot to me. so, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!

forgive me

I really hope you aren't getting annoyed at my recent brooch postings! haha. im a little too excited about them.. also its really the only thing ive been working on recently. they have been a lot of fun to paint and its been giving me a boost of creativity. im wanting to keep a bunch of these, then I remember that I can always paint another. haha. my favorite brooches right now are the Mickey ears. I hope to go to Disneyland before the end of the year and rock one of them! Im also thinking of making some super hero brooches with my nephew in mind :) If you want to purchase your very own brooch hand-painted by me, visit my shop Pretty Clementine.
on another note, remember when I told you that I was reading three books? Well, have I ever told you that I get distracted easily when I come across another book? Which explains why I was trying to read three. haha. Well, Simon Pegg (only the love of my life.. totally kidding.. ok, not really.) has a book called Nerd Do Well that I have recently purchased. Ive put the other three books aside and I cant seem to put Simons book down. Im not even halfway done and it has already become one of my favorites. ugh, i adore him so much.

have a lovely Thursday!

i left my heart in..

Hello lovely bloggers :) How was your Labor Day weekend? Mine was pretty nice. Friday and Saturday we celebrated my nephews birthday. Saturday night we watched some of the VMA performances, I really wanted to see Nsync again. haha. After church on Sunday, some of my friends and I made a trip to good ol San Francisco. We ate at one of our favorite spots, Buckhorn Grill (mmm), and then walked around while we stopped at some shops (including Lush and Urban Outfitters). After that we headed over to the Pier were we watched gymnast do some daring moves on the streets, ate clam chowder for dinner, played at Musee Mecanique and had Ghirardelli's ice cream for dessert. It was a pretty long day but fun. The photos above are my favorite shots from the day. On Labor day I didn't do much but stay home and then headed over to my sisters where we watched Tyler Perry's Temptation and Argo. Both are really good by the way. One part of Argo I got up and started pacing back and forth in the living room having crazy anxiety haha. I cant even imagine if I watched it in the theaters. haha. I really want to buy that movie, it was really good.

Those of you who are wanting to purchase some brooches, they will be added to my shop by 6pm tonight :)
Hope you all are having a lovely Tuesday!

friday fun facts

here are some fun facts about me. happy Friday :)
(incase you wanted to know: orange cardigan/scalloped ring/bicycle tank top - all from Forever 21)

- Daria was one of my favorites to draw when i was little! I would wait for it to come on just so I can draw all the characters.

- Besides teaching myself how to draw, im a self taught painter (which is why I don't have any professional techniques haha). I loved drawing so much that I decided to try watercolor, then I wanted to explore the world of painting. I didn't start painting till I was 15 or 16 years old.

- my parents didn't really care too much about what I watched when I was little, so I got to watch Beavis and Butthead a lot :)

- my childhood crush? it wasn't Jonathan Taylor Thomas or Devon Sawa. It was Kevin Zegers & Elijah Wood (I still dig them both).

- I watched Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in theaters FIVE times. #nerdtothefullest

- The Incredibles is my favorite Pixar film. I'll always have the memory of my dad taking my brother and i to watch it in theaters and my dad had this embarrassing smoker cough and then he eventually fell asleep. haha.

- I went to the Vampire Diaries Convention in San Francisco last year. best day ever. I got to see Paul Wesley (Stefan), Ian Somerhalder (Damon) & Steven McQueen (Jeremy) on the panel. My friend and I also got a photo op with Steven! :)

Jay Leno waved at me. On my last trip to Hollywood, my friends and I decided to drive around Beverly Hills and look at all the fancy houses. When we were stopped at a stop sign, a man in an old school car was on the other side - stopped as well. My friend was driving and I was in the passengers seat. as we pass by she says "hey look its Jay Leno, wave." i thought she was joking and it was just a man that looked like him. But i waved anyway. when i was waving he gave a nod, smiled and waved back.. and our faces were in shock! we screamed! and all i was thinking at that moment was *omg, it really was him and he waved back*. haha.

- i spend a lot of time at Peets Coffee and Tea. Im there 7 days a week on my lunch break. Im obsessed with their Ice Vanilla Latte & sugar cookies.

- I loved Posh Spice. When i was younger i sent her a letter and attached a small plush toy to the envelope (i glued the tag to it). Later my mom handed me back the plush toy (it obviously wasn't aloud to travel with the letter) and i remember feeling sad that it never got sent to her. I wonder if she ever got my letter though, probably not. haha.

- i am the aunt to this adorable boy. my nephew Jonovan turns 9 today! happy birthday to him :)
