a Benefit for Jamie Baker

the other night I was scrolling through twitter when I saw a tweet by @munchanka (a Pixar Animator) about a fundraising event in SF. it was for his friend, Jamie Baker (who is also an artist at Pixar). the next morning I decided to look up more information about the event and more about Jamie Baker's fundraiser. Jamie had a stroke in 2012 which caused paralysis on the right side of his body, including his right hand. Undergoing therapy, he has been learning how to draw with his left hand (you can read more here). Showing support for Jamie, 30 artist' created art with their non-dominant hand and sold the art work to raise money! I thought that was just incredibly brilliant. so I decided, "im going!". Annnnd im so glad I went. I got to see a bunch of artist just draw away and it was just awesome to see how their work would turn out using their "bad" hand. the event took place at 111 Minna Gallery in SF, a place I am most familiar with since I had my first showcase there (ah, memories)!
the work of Jamie Baker. amazing, right?
left: please note the LA LUNA drawings! drawn by the artist/director himself, Enrico Casarosa | right: one of Jamie Bakers print, LOVE IT!

 more amazing "bad" handed drawings!
I came home with these two beauties! on the left is one of Jamie Baker's prints! Im so in love with it. on the right is an original "bad" handed drawing by the ever so talented Iggy Medeiros (you can check out more of Iggy's amazing work - here!)
im so happy to have contributed to Jamie's fundraiser (hmm, another act of kindness? :)) and you can contribute too! by visiting his fundraising page (HERE) and donating!
I hope to go to more events this year! :)

First Pixar Night at the San Francisco Giants game

ok, how awesome is this: PIXAR NIGHT? at the San Francisco Giants game? come on! Its pretty darn amazing, not to mention that it was the FIRST Pixar Night ever at the game.. also not to mention that I went! YUP! To get into the Pixar Giants spirit.. my best friend, Felicia, and i decided to go all out! We came up with the idea of decorating denim vest with our very own choice of a Pixar character with an SF Giants theme on the back. To create this piece i went ahead and painted them myself! :)
Below you will find all the characters i painted, minus one (Dug).

Of course, i picked the cutest kid ever; Russell from UP. It was a hard decision though.. I also had Mr. Pricklepants in mind. Uh well!
I painted all of them on a canvas bag that i bought from Michaels and just cut them up. I think i had to buy 3 to paint all 8. For paint, i used fabric paint that you can also find at Michaels.
I attended the game extremely early ( i DID NOT want to miss a thing). I have never gone so early before and i didnt know a bunch of people stood and sat around with their baseball gloves just to catch a ball! haha. It was pretty entertaining. My friend i just watched the Nationals as they practiced while i anticipated to see John Lasseter.
Minutes and minutes rolled and FINALLY Sully, Mike and John Lasseter stepped to the plate. I  seriously almost cried and could not believe i was in the same place as John Lasster, its like i basically met him. haha. not really, but it was VERY exciting. I could not get any good pictures of him.. since i was pretty far.

As you can see in the photo above, they look like little specs haha. So i went ahead and labeled them so you can see where they are.
This was my 4th or 5th Giants game ever and i seriously had one of the best nights! They won and i got a compliment on my Russell painting from some lovely people! :) It was a good night!

Carl Fredricksen Outfit

So i think im just about done with completing my Carl Fredricksen outfit! ;)
My outfit didnt go entirely as planned, but i kinda like it better! My whole idea was to dress pretty much exactly like him, just with a brown skirt instead of pants and a brown cardigan instead of a blazer.
But i couldnt find any of that =/ So i thought, why not wear just a white dress & brown cardigan?
i found the cardigan at Target, it was a liiiiiittle over my budget but it was the only one i found and i dont have any other brown cardigans. so i bought it :)
the white dress is from Forever 21 and was only $15! its a little short but i had bought a $5 white skirt from Walmart, yippee! The peter pan collar is an add on, i made it out of felt and its detachable.
Of course, a Carl outfit is not complete without the bow tie and glasses! I made the bow tie myself with black fabric i got from Walmart. The glasses are also from Walmart, only $5. The only thing that sucked about the glasses was that i couldnt find any black rim ones. The only one i found was a lime green rim so i bought it anyway. I painted the glasses with mars black acrylic paint then added Mod Podge to seal it. its a bit rusty in the picture because i havent made any touch ups yet, but ill get around to it.
Im pretty much done, only one more thing to do: make the grape soda pin. Which i will get started on right now ;)

The Claw!!

So, how could i not get this?
its just perfect written all over! haha.
This case is super cheap and i think it took about a little over 2 weeks or so to arrive.
You want one?
get yours on Amazon :)
